Rosie (00:20):
I am happy to bring these Saturday Solutions Mini-Episodes in where our guests, who are well known in their field, bring solutions to everyday challenges. And today we are going to talk about what to wear, what to wear? That question that we have sometimes when we are there, looking at the clothes that we have, and we are thinking, Hmm, will these two pieces go together, or maybe we are going to a special event and we want to make sure that we look and feel our best. So here to solve the What to Wear Dilemma, is our guest Erica King, a Personal Stylist in central Texas. Let's listen to Part 1: Finding the Right Fit.
Erika King, Personal Stylist-The Modernist Closet (01:06):
Hi, I'm Erica King with The Modernist Closet, a Personal Stylist here in Central Texas. Three of the most issues that I see people face when getting dressed are fit, lack of style clarity, and not having foundation pieces in their wardrobe. In terms of fit, I think that's one of the most important things because you don't want to be pulling and tugging. Things are falling down. It just doesn't make for a comfortable day. So when you're out shopping and you're trying on, say for instance, a button down shirt, you want to make sure that it's not gaping across the chest area. And if it's doing that, you definitely want to go up a size. With your pants, you want to make sure that you can put at least two fingers in between your waist, and definitely you want to try them on and sit down. A lot of people just try on clothes while they're standing up and they go, oh, this fits really good.
Erika (01:55):
But once you sit down in them, because that's part of what you do on a daily basis, you really want to sit down on your jeans too and see how they're going to function that way, also is when you're trying on a jacket, just to make sure that it's not too tight across your shoulders and the back area, just give yourself a little hug or hug someone else, making sure that you could do that. And it's not too tight on those areas and tight in the arms. That'll save you a lot of stress when getting dressed and definitely invest in a good seamstress, because a lot of people don't think that it's necessary, but clothing is not made in one size. And even if it was made in one size, we're all different sizes. So we really want to make sure that we get things tailored to fit just specifically for our body. Those are some of the things that I think would help for people getting dressed and I can be reached if you want to find out more information at https://www.modernistcloset.com/ as well as Instagram @_themodernistcloset.
Rosie (02:54):
Thanks Erika for sharing your knowledge and wisdom, and showing us some options that are available in solving the What to Wear Dilemma. Stay tuned for Part 2. Thanks for listening, and like, comment, subscribe...and like I always say, life is better when we live it at hundred!
