So here to solve the gift dilemma is our guest Emlyn Roesler, who creates beautifully designed, sustainable handcrafted solid soaps in Austin, Texas.

My name is Emlyn Roesler. I am a local soap maker in Austin, Texas, and my company is called Solid Soaps.
I saw that there was a problem with the consumption of plastic, and people have come up to me and asked: How can I reduce my consumption? How can I help the environment? With Solid Soaps, my products are consumable, they are sustainable, and they are made with natural ingredients. I do make a solid shampoo, which minimizes the amount of plastic we use, because there's no plastic bottle. I also make solid dish soap, also reducing the consumption of plastic. And then, all of my packaging is wrapped in compostable or recyclable. And I do reuse some of the packaging materials from other packages that I receive, overall minimizing waste. And that's one of the problems that I've created a solution.

Another one is, sometimes it's difficult to find that gift for your family member or your co-worker or your friend. People have come up to me and said, “I have this problem. I don't know what to get my co-worker”. Well, Solid Soaps make consumable and luxurious soaps and bath products, so that you can give these very nice homemade gifts to your friends, co-workers, your family members. And it is low commitment, meaning if they don't like it, they don't have something that they have to keep forever. It's also a very practical gift. And it's a luxurious gift.
